Flagstaff: Build one long regional loop day, then leave the next morning for downtown or a short trail. At 7,000 feet, sun and weather can surprise visitors. Carry water, layers, and rain protection even in summer.

Sedona: Put Cathedral Rock or Devil's Bridge on an early morning, then stop adding headline hikes to the same day. Use Tlaquepaque, the Heritage Museum, or a long lunch as a deliberate afternoon plan in warm weather.
